The ancient dragon Tian Yao was severely wounded and heartbroken after a lover betrayed him. By dismembering him, stripping him of his dragon scales, and then sealing his body parts in five places, the woman he loved betrayed him. Simply by karma did his spirit escape. He meets Yan Hui, now reborn, and he promises to protect him as he finds his missing bones.
Finding a seal inside a lake, Tian Yao sees his chance. Tian Yao became hopeful after meeting Yan Hui because she possessed his heart protection scale, which could break that seal. Using Yan Hui, Tian Yao recovers his stolen body parts. After that, Yan Hui makes plans for her escape that fail.
She discovers, to her surprise, that their bond grows stronger over time. Both Tian Yao and Yan Hui appreciate the strong bond they have developed, and Tian Yao admires Yan Hui’s repeated efforts to save him. Secrets will proliferate as Yan Hui comes to learn of her actual beginning.
